Each October features a regatta that draws many yachts to the area.

Dubai Airport Flight Information

The Dubai International Airport has many state-of-the-art features that provide a helpful and interesting place for travelers with a capacity of departing and arriving passengers of 1,000 and 500 per hour respectively.

Efficiency is key in Terminal 1 with its 22 check-in counters containing 42 inch plasma screens with flight information and guidance given bilingually to passengers. There is also an advanced passenger clearance system (the “E-gate”) for those with a “smart card” that moves traffic quickly through electronic screening of a passenger’s data. This “smart card” with all the holder’s information is obtained from the DNRD office on the first floor of the Departures Building. The passenger must be over 17 years of age.

The Global Link on the departures level has work stations with internet, fax machines, and round-the-clock secretarial service. Internet services are also available in kiosks with touch screens.

There are 5,400 square metres in Dubai Duty Free shopping with top-quality merchandise. It has been the winner of over 70 international awards.

Twenty-five food and drink outlets go from fast food to specialty cuisine including Italian, Chinese, Lebanese, Indian, Mongolian barbecue, and more including the Irish Village serving Irish fare. Safar is the main restaurant also with a bar and buffet. There is a First Class Lounge, a Business Class Lounge, Quiet Lounges (with reclining chairs to take a nap), a Women’s Lounge, and a Children’s Play Area. Some airlines have their own lounges.

Terminal 2 alleviates congestion by providing a spacious building for charter, executive, and special interest flights.

Taxi service is available 24 hours a day at the Arrivals Terminal. Bus stations are opposite both terminals.

The five star deluxe Dubai International Hotel occupies two locations: two floors above the Arrivals level with 88 beautiful rooms with room and laundry services available 24 hours a day as well as interactive television with high speed internet access. The hotel also occupies levels 5 and 6 above Terminal 3 with 253 more rooms including special rooms for the disabled.
