A Review of a Cruise to China with Gills

Category : China

Your 49 night long cruise will begin in Southampton. Setting sail on January 4th, and arriving in Artimis on 22nd February, you’ll visit 19 ports in 12 different countries on your way.

The first stop is Lisbon, Portugal, some of the best views of the capital are as your ship cruises along the Tagus River past the Belem Tower and the statue of Henry the Navigator before arriving at the Lisbon cruise terminal. You’ll get to spend a full day here, then it’s on to Tripoli in Libya. Tripoli is a typical north African city full of narrow streets. In town you’ll find plenty to see, but really the best treasures here mean a trip out into the nearby desert.

Next stop is Port Said in Egypt, and with a full day here, there’s plenty of time for excursions to Cairo to get a glimpse of the Giza pyramids, or visit the tombs of the Pharaohs and the famous Sphinx. From port Said, you’ll transit the Suez Canal, arriving next in Aquaba, Africa, a day spent here, then it’s on to Salalah with it’s Arabic influences, ancient ruins, stunning beaches and soaring mountain landscape.

Muscat in Oman, and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates follows. In both you’ll find a stunning mixture of older traditional architecture, and modern buildings thrown together in contrast. The effect is stunning, and, with a day to spend in each place, you’ll have plenty of time to take a trip to see the magnificent Burj Al Arab Hotel which is designed to resemble a billowing sail and stands 321 metres tall and dominates the Dubai coastline.

Your cruise ship will take you on now to India where you’ll make stops in Mumbai, and Cochin each of which is special in its own way. Mumbai has the famous Chor Bazaar, a place any bargain hunter will enjoy. In Cochin there is plenty to see, but make sure you spend some time travelling the canals leading off the Vembavad Lake where you’ll see fishermen and their families living as they’ve done for centuries past.

Port Kelang in Malaysia comes next, and then it’s on to Singapore for your first glimpses of China. Once ashore you can take a stroll through the Tiger Balm Gardens and see statues of characters from Chinese legend peeping from between the trees.

Two days spent in Vietnam at VungTau and then Nhu Trang which is rich in history. One of their most sacred sites the Towers of Po Nagar dating from the 7th Century is a popular place to visit, as is the beautiful Long Son Pagoda. Then it’s back to China, this time to explore Hong Kong where you can take the Star Ferry between Kowloon and Hong Kong island and experience one of the worlds busiest ferry crossings.

Next, two days of visiting Japan, then a quick jaunt to Pusan in South Korea, and its back to China to see Xingang and Shanghai one of China’s largest and most cosmopolitan cities. The Temple of the Jade Buddha here is a must, as is the Shanghai Museum where you can peruse Chinese works of art and learn about China’s vivid history. Finally, it’s back to Hong Kong once more where you’ll leave the Artimis ready to fly home with many memories to carry with you.

You can get cruises to china with Royal Caribbean Cruises and Cunard Cruises

Limassol Holidays

Category : Uncategorized

Limassol is the largest seaside resort on Cypruss and can be found on the south coast of the island. The town is spread around the Akrotiri bay, and there are many beaches as well as a large modern marina. This is an area where you’ll be greeted with a friendly cheerful attitude, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Most holiday accommodation is to the east of the town and there are plenty of luxury hotels, apartments and villas to be had. The seafront promenade here is wide and there are lots of cafes, bars, tavernas and night clubs skirting the shingle covered beaches.
Ladies Mile is a beach nearer the outskirts of the resort which is sandy rather than shingle covered, and it has the advantage that being a little further from the centre of the resort, it does tend to get less crowded than some nearer beaches do.

Around the area, there are many interesting historic sites to visit. To the west on the road to Paphos, lies the remains of an ancient city, and the Graeco-Roman theatre in Limassol has been restored and is once again being used for entertainment purposes with theatre performances and concerts being held here.

In September the area celebrates a wine festival which is very popular with locals as well as visitors to the area. Free wine tasting sessions take place as well as much music and dancing.

Locally shopping is good with a wide range of shops from modern boutiques and jewellers to small stores and stalls selling locally made craft items. St Andrews street near the promenade is a wonderful place to shop, a narrow lane with overhanging terraces and lots of small shops selling interesting things. For places to eat there is a fair amount of choice with restaurants selling a wide variety of dishes. Fish is big on most menus in Cyprus, and calamari, red mullet and sea bass are particularly popular. Grilled Hallourri (a cheese made locally from goats or sheeps milk), is an appetiser for which the region is known. If you want to try a taste of everything then a mezze is a good meal to opt for, as this way you’ll get the chance to sample a variety of local dishes. The local wine is very nice and a glass to wash your meal down with won’t empty your pockets.

Limassol holidays offer great opportunites for all; including familys, couples and the older and younger generations. For those who like to party through the night, there are plenty of bars, discos and clubs playing loud music, but for those who prefer a more mellow entertainment there is also plenty on offer here also.

Cruises for Seniors

Category : Uncategorized

Seniors are very happy that there are cruises specifically for them. If they want to go on a cruise with their families for an occasion or reunion, it is expected that there will be the noise and hub-bub of youngsters running around. However, if seniors want to go and relax in what can be described as a floating luxury resort with entertainment and gourmet cuisine prepared especially for them, a senior cruise is definitely the answer.

Ship_Profile_w_Name_R

Theme cruises add to the fun. There are those cruises that feature health and fitness with physicians on board to conduct workshops. Other themes are big band music played every night, tournaments of different kinds, and even a murder mystery cruise where you are the sleuth. An expedition cruise is usually in a smaller ship that can navigate the narrow passages to see exotic out-of-the-way places and nature. Often there are naturalists on board to give slide shows and lectures.

Many cruise lines give discounts to seniors over age 55, so be sure to ask about that when you go to book your cruise. Also see if they give AARP or AAA or other discounts. Other ways to save on the price of a cruise are to go during the off season. If you can go at the last minute, there are bargain offers that ships offer to avoid vacancies. If you have to travel to the port, check on a package that will include your transportation and a possible overnight hotel stay, if necessary.

Check with Exploritas, which is the new name for Elderhostel. It is the biggest adult non-profit educational travel organization. They can give information on their Adventures Afloat which include the modern ocean liners as well as smaller ships and riverboats.

Pampering and many amenities exist on board to make seniors feel very welcome and special on their cruise. Wellness programs and senior-friendly exercises and spa activities are often offered. Dietary considerations are also catered to with any type of specialty requirements happily adhered to for the welfare of the passengers. New laws make more handicapped accessibility available for those seniors who do not think they will be able to go on a cruise. There are wheelchair-accessible cabins, often a wheelchair gangway mechanism, and sometimes Braille elevator buttons and other features.

If you don’t want to disembark at the ports when docked, there are continuous activities for those who would prefer to stay on the ship and relax and enjoy the “floating hotel”.

Touring at the different ports, with a possible overnight stay at a hotel booked in advance, can add to the experience and certainly will allow interesting sightseeing that can also be arranged when you book your cruise. The various destinations offer many attractions that will enrich your holiday and make it an unforgettable time to remember and to later share the memories with family and friends.

The best advertisement for the cruise lines is word of mouth by satisfied passengers who can spread the word about their wonderful time on board the ship.

Holidays in Sharm El Sheikh

Category : Africa

Sharm El Sheikh sits on a promontory at the extreme southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula overlooking the straits of Tiran. For the last fifty years, Sharm El Sheikh has been in a political, Ping-Pong, game of conflicts with the territory being passed back and forth between Israel and Egypt. Egypt gained final control that was afforded by the Israel-Egypt peace treaty in 1979. The first hotel was built in 1982 and keeping with the regions ‘land plan’ to utilize fifty percent for tourist resorts and facilities, now has over one hundred hotels and resorts catering to a thriving tourist trade. The beauty of the area is breathtaking where the stark Sinai desert meets the turquoise waters of the magical Red Sea.

Luxury hotels offer all the amenities that go into making the traveler’s holiday a rousing success and the majority offer very reasonable all inclusive rates. All of the high end hotels and resorts have private beaches and provide water toys that thrill the whole family. Guests have access to jet skis, catamarans, snorkeling gear and some hotels have ski boats and offer parasailing. Elegant accommodations prevail and most hotels host several swimming pools, meeting rooms, health spas, activities for children and rooms are equipped with balconies, Jacuzzis, mini bars and twenty four hour room service. Restaurants are plentiful and offer exquisite international cuisine.

For those needing a break from sun, fun and sand, tours are available for the vacationing explorer. There are day excursions and extended desert safaris by jeep and camelback into the mountains and to desert oases. One of the most popular trips is to Mount Sinai where Moses is reputed to have taken down the Ten Commandments. The biggest draw to holidays in Sharm El Sheikh is the scuba diving. The Red Sea is a diver’s paradise and its reefs are visited by thousands of divers every year, many of whom book their holidays at ulookubook. The water is gin clear and many reefs start just meters from shore. There are hundreds of species of tropical fish and on some of the outer reefs sharks and some other large animals may be observed.

On a budget – Travelling with family

Category : Uncategorized

As travelling with a family can be expensive, there are many resolutions to this problem. Budget holidays have become popular due to the number of people looking for a bargain. This popularity means that there is now a great choice available for families who are looking to travel on a budget.

Accommodation
It would be advisable to search for cheap all-inclusive holidays. This means that the food for the holiday is already taken care of so you do not have to factor the cost into your budget whilst abroad. Moreover as you could be unaware of the prices at the local shops or supermarkets, all-inclusive holidays prevents the surprise of expensive food prices which may leave you with no money in your budget for fun activities.
Some of the cheaper places to visit when on budget are the most popular and well-known resorts. As these are more populated with hotels, there is more competition between them meaning there will be cheaper prices and some exclusive deals. Moreover for most holidays, the price for a two week holiday may only be a little more than for a one week holiday. So go for longer and you get better value for your money and a longer stay within the destination of your choice.
If you have a specific destination in mind, in order to get the best deal you can research on the internet and on price comparison websites for hotels within the region. This enables you to search out the best deal as well being able to get online reviews regarding the hotel’s quality.

Time of Year
The cheapest time of year to travel would be during the school term. Prices skyrocket during the school holidays as companies know the majority of families have to take holidays during this period as the children are free from school. Moreover travelling midweek lowers the prices on flights; being flexible with your time means you are able to get the cheaper deals.

Car Hire
Whilst hiring a car may be seen as an expensive luxury by some people, this one-off purchase may be a cheaper cost in comparison to coach exertions or daily bus rides. If you are part of a large family the prices of coaches may make a large dent in your budget whilst car hire means you don’t have to factor in individual family member prices on days out. Make sure you research hire car companies before your holiday to get the cheapest deals. Alternatively you can book one online beforehand which enables you to factor the price into the holiday budget unlike the surprises that could arise from coach prices.
In order to get the best deal for your holiday, it is advisable to research as much as you possibly can. Moreover to save on spending abroad and to keep on top of your budget it is advisable to pay for as much as you can before going away to stop any expensive surprises from happening.

Dubai Holiday and Flights Guide

Category : United Arab Emirates

This posting has been provided by Netflights who offer cheap flights to Dubai as well as holiday packages to the city

Dubai, located south of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian Peninsula, is one of the most popular and luxurious tourist destinations in Asia. There are both historical and modern aspects to this city, and plenty of attractions and sights to see.

There are number of guided bus tours in Dubai, where you can visit and appreciate the many sights and historic landmarks of the city. For example, the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper, opened in Dubai recently, and is mostly seen by tourists via tour buses.
Dubai has a rich history, and it is worth visiting a few of the many mosques, churches, and museums in the city. For example, Dubai Museum, located in the Al Fahidi Fort, is the oldest existing building in the city. As well as local antiques as old as 3000 B.C, the museum also contains ancient artefacts from African and Asian countries. The Grand Mosque is also a highly popular tourist attraction. It is considered to be the most attractive mosque in Dubai, and therefore is also the most photographed. The coastal residential area of Jumeirah also has a mosque, the Jumeirah Mosque, which is open to non-Muslims for special tours to give insights into the Islam religion.

Dubai is also known for its arts and culture, and if you are visiting the city in December you are just in time for The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). It is one of the leading international film festivals, and continues to nurture the emerging cinema culture in Asian and African countries. This year, it will be held between the 12th and the 19th of December.

If you’re thinking of where to stay, Dubai offers a wide variety of highly luxurious accommodation. In particular, the most lavish of these is Atlantis, the Palm. It is a resort located on the artificial Palm Jumeirah Island. It is in the shape of a palm tree, and consists of a trunk, a crown with 16 fronds, and a surrounding crescent island. The island has been self-declared the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’. The Palm resort is modelled after the Atlantis, Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas. As well as a water park and an underground aquarium, the resort also has Dolphin Bay, where guests can swim and interact with the dolphins at Atlantis.

For the ultimate shopping experience, the Dubai Mall is highly recommended. With approximately 1,200 shops, it is the world’s largest shopping mall. It’s a great way to spend the day, because in addition to shops, the mall has a number of activity centres for kids, as well as an Ice Rink, a cinema complex, an aquarium, and over 160 food and beverage options.

This luxurious and exciting city has plenty to offer to any tourist, whether you’re there for two days or two weeks.

Cruises with Royal Caribbean & Princess Cruises

Category : Uncategorized

Cruises have one major feature over most traditional holidays the fact that everything (except alcoholic drinks, tips, and shore excursions) are all-inclusive. This means that once you have paid for your cruise, you get your meals, activities, entertainment, and much more available at no extra charge. You can keep busy all day and all night. You can eat at all times of the day and evening between the scheduled meals, snacks, and midnight buffets. The excellent cuisine in a variety of restaurants is a mouth-watering experience.

royal caribbean cruises

There is a daily itinerary of scheduled events that you can take advantage of with all types of sports including unusual ones such as rock climbing, the nightly shows and dancing, and much more. If you want to do your own thing, there is always swimming, sunbathing, the spa, gym, shopping, a casino, or just relaxing and people watching.

Royal Caribbean and Princess cruises are excellent examples of lines that give wonderful customer service long before you go as well as all the time you are on their ships.

You can start with a cruise search online where you can compare the various offerings for destinations throughout the world, length of days (from a weekend to a month), size of ship, the innovations that make each ship special, prices for which accommodations, what land tours are offered at an additional cost, and whatever else you want to know. If you are taking the children, find out which ships offer many areas and activities specifically for the younger ones in order to keep them busy.

You can also order brochures to pour over to have a further look at different cruises to decide which one you definitely want to go on.

A land adventure at various ports can fulfill a lifetime desire to experience the wonders of the world. The ship can schedule the tours for you.

Since both Royal Caribbean and Princess ships depart from many different ports, you can learn where the nearest one is to you. If you need transportation because it is a distance away, arrangements can be made for you if you cannot arrange your own.

Royal Caribbean International was founded in Norway but is now based in Miami, Florida, has 42 ships in service and one under construction, and enjoys 24.8% of the world’s cruise market. Its Allure of the Seas, for instance, has 2,700 staterooms and 28 ultra-modern suites. It’s sixteen decks contain different “neighborhoods” such as Boardwalk and Central Park, the Aqua Theater which is the first amphitheater at sea, an adults-only Solarium, a Youth zone for the kids, and endless other delights.

Princess Cruises is a cruise line that is British-American owned and is based in Santa Clarita, California. Remember their Island Princess and Pacific Princess in “The Love Boat” TV series? Even though their current ships are amazing, in May, 2010, a contract was finalized for two new ships that are expected to enter service in Spring of 2013 and Spring of 2014 with an evolutionary design, new innovations, and with 100% of its outside staterooms having balconies.

Booking Airport Parking In Advance

Category : UK

When travelling abroad, it can be an absolute risk taking a train, or taxi to get to and from the airport, delays can cost you not just extra money, but at worst your whole holiday experience. So taking the car and parking at the airport is often the best thing to do, it’s much less stressful. The problem is that parking at airports can cost a lot, and if you just turn up on the day, the cost you’re faced with could put a real dampener on that holiday feeling. If you book the parking in advance however, it can be a lot cheaper.

Booking ahead won’t just save you money either, it will also ensure that you get a parking space, and the further in advance you book the cheaper the cost generally is. Policies at airports vary, but some will actually let you book your parking space up to two years in advance.

A good starting place for prebooking your parking is at ParkBCP where you can book parking at many UK airports including – Manchester Airport Parking in addition to London airports where you can get deals on Stanstead Parking and Heathrow Parking.

Another thing to watch out for is that different airports charge different amounts, a Which? Survey reported that many airports in the South charge more than their Northern counterparts. The survey looked at fifteen of the UK’s busiest airports and found that Heathrow was the most expensive at over £85, while Manchester was the cheapest at just under £20 (this was based on seven days of parking not booked in advance). This means, that if you have the option of flying from several different airports to reach your destination, it could be worth considering their parking costs before you book your flights.

Another option is to consider an airport hotel and parking package. This can allow you to combine a night’s stay in a hotel, and the parking of your car while you are away. By staying in a hotel close to the airport the night before you fly, you remove all the horrible worry of whether you’ll get there on time, and if you opt for a fairly basic budget hotel, you may well pay no more than you would if you paid for just the parking alone, and in some cases you might even pay less. Airports that offer this option include Manchester, Heathrow (where there are 31 different airport hotels to choose from all offering parking), Gatwick, Edinburgh, Luton and many more.

Overall, the difference in what you pay if you book in advance, compared to not booking and just arriving on the day of your holiday and paying, could be as much as 70% in some cases, and of course the more you save on parking, the more you have to spend on your holiday.
